A Thread Runs Through It

July 24, 2012

‘A Thread Runs Through It’ is a new commission for Airdrie Community Health Centre, east of Glasgow, Scotland. The three large-scale works are sited in the reception and entrance areas, and aim to encapsulate key aspects of Airdrie’s past in bold, abstract compositions that make reference to astronomy, blotting paper, baking and confectionery, linen weaving and ironwork foundries. Screen-printed and stencilled on linen, the imagery is applied in layers, gradually building up and stripping away colour.

Painted and screen-printed on linen, the piece comprises 16 separate parts laid out in a grid.

62@50 runs from 16th July – 17th August, 10am – 4pm Monday – Friday.
The private view is on Friday 20th July from 6pm – 8pm
